If you read this article you will find the a part about ‘retailization’ of healthcare as in clinics to open up in big box stores/grocery stores/etc. As much as I feel this ‘cheapens’ the idea of healthcare it is one of lean practice – or better cost management. Less overhead with more a more efficient ‘flow model’ of dealing with patience can and will drive down or at least slow costs.
My mother was a nurse for almost 40 years and when she retired she was frustrated with the lack of or growing lack of what she called ‘patient care’ – dealing with the person not just the ailment.
Unfortunately this has grown and will continue to grow to reign in costs.
